Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

Donors are presumed to have consented to the use of their gametes or embryos; this applies if the material is used to complete a family.
ART providers cannot use a single donor to create more than 5 families in the ACT; they cannot use a single donor to create more than 10 families across Australia.
ART providers must give specific donor information when providing mandatory disclosures.
Public officials are protected from liability; this protection does not extend to ART providers.
ART providers are exempt from certain extended reporting and consent rules if they use gametes or embryos allocated before the end of the transitional period.
