Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

A person commits an offence if they corrupt a sporting event to get a benefit or cause a detriment.
It is a crime to ask for or receive a benefit that would influence someone to corrupt a sporting event.
A person commits an offence if they use or communicate corrupt information about a sporting event.
Possessing corrupt information with the intent to facilitate a crime is an offence.
A person commits an offence if they use or share non-public inside information that would likely influence betting decisions.
Individuals face up to 3 years in prison or a fine for using inside information.
Companies face heavy fines for corrupting sporting events; this can be up to 10% of their annual turnover.
