Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

It is a criminal offence to act as a coordinating, consulting, or administering practitioner without being eligible.
People face up to 7 years in prison for using dishonest or coercive conduct to make someone self-administer a substance or make a request for assisted dying.
Coordinating and medical practitioners must notify the Review Board within 2 business days when a person dies.
Coordinating practitioners must notify the Review Board within 2 business days of issuing a prescription, receiving a formal request, or completing a final review form.
Approved disposers must record the disposal of substances and notify the Review Board within 2 business days.
Failure to meet these reporting deadlines is a strict liability offence; this means the person is liable regardless of intent.
