Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

Landowners who ignore a branch removal notice must pay for the cost of removing the overhanging branches; this is limited to the actual expense or a set regulatory amount.
People applying to the Appeal Tribunal must list every action they took regarding the plant in question.
Applicants to the Appeal Tribunal must explain why they took no action regarding the plant; this applies if no steps were taken under the law.
The Neighbourhood Disputes About Plants Amendment Act 2026 ends on its first anniversary.
