Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
Applicants for victims of crime awards can appeal the Commissioner's decisions to the Tasmanian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (TASCAT).
State Service employees must not commit reportable conduct; they must not engage in conduct that poses an unreasonable risk to the safety of a child or young person using an agency service.
State Service employees must not interfere with the honest performance of a public officer's duties.
Personal information custodians can share private data if they reasonably believe it is necessary to prevent or report abuse or neglect of children and vulnerable people.
The Police Service must comply with child and youth safe standards; it is now subject to the reportable conduct scheme.
The Commissioner of Police must report conduct and convictions of Police Service workers occurring since 1 January 2024.
