Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

The territory planning authority must give consultation notices to specific people for certain draft major plan amendments.
The territory planning authority can skip publishing and notification requirements if it is satisfied that specific conditions are met.
Step-free access paths for single dwellings are now designated development; they are exempt from certain compliance criteria if they meet the Livable Housing Design Standard.
Swimming pools now include any structure or excavation deeper than 300mm used for aquatic activities; this includes spas and wading pools but excludes bathroom baths.
The authority cannot authorise minor encroachments for single dwellings if they cause shadowing for more than 3 hours to over 50% of a neighbour's habitable room or private open space on the winter solstice.
The territory planning authority replaces the chief planner as the body responsible for technical specifications.
