Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
Multicultural Victoria replaces the Victorian Multicultural Commission.
A new Multicultural Coordinator General and Deputy are created; both must act impartially, and the Deputy cannot be a sitting MP or Councillor.
Government departments must write an annual Multicultural Action and Inclusion Plan and get it approved by the Multicultural Coordinator General.
Government agencies must use VITS LanguageLoop for interpreting and translation services, unless VITS LanguageLoop turns down the request.
