Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

The Victorian Electoral Commission must hold a plebiscite to decide if cannabis should be legalised; this must happen within two years.
People who would be eligible to vote in a state election can vote in the plebiscite.
Voting in the plebiscite is compulsory.
The Victorian Electoral Commission must publicly declare the number of Yes, No, and informal votes.
The Victorian Electoral Commission must publish the proposed cannabis legislation on its website.
The Victorian Electoral Commission must publish approved arguments for and against the Yes and No votes on its website.
