Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
Commonwealth procurement must support Australian industry capability; it must support sovereign resilience and local manufacturing jobs.
Tenders for specified Commonwealth projects must give domestic manufacturers opportunities to be considered before non-domestic manufacturers.
At least 30% of the total value of goods used in specified Commonwealth projects must be domestically manufactured products.
Rules for these domestic requirements must include limited and transparent exemptions.
