Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
The date for working out accumulated HELP debt for a financial year moves from 1 June to 1 November.
Former accumulated HELP debt can only be calculated on or after 1 November after the financial year ends.
HELP debt repayments are now the sum of voluntary payments made between 1 November in one financial year and 1 November in the next.
The date for location-preferred HELP debtor reductions changes to 1 November.
