Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

The Secretary must pay superannuation contributions for people on Paid Parental Leave.
People with advance payment deductions can apply in writing to increase or reduce their deduction amounts.
The Secretary can extend the period for reducing an advance payment deduction by up to 6 instalments if the person faces financial hardship.
The Secretary can use tax refunds to pay off family assistance debts; they can also offset family assistance entitlements against tax liabilities.
The Secretary cannot determine a past period Family Tax Benefit claim until the Commissioner of Taxation provides the claimant's taxable income.
The Secretary must review a determination if they discover the actual income amounts differ from those used in a previous review.
