Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

People who received medical treatment for their sex characteristics before this law starts are exempt from certain restrictions; this includes the rules in section 10 and part 4 of the Variation in Sex Characteristics (Restricted Medical Treatment) Act 2023.
This exemption lasts for 12 months after the law starts.
The transitional provisions in Part 9 of the Act expire 2 years after the law starts.
