Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

The commission or an authorised officer can give complainants information about the status or results of an investigation.
The commission must be sure the complainant has a legitimate interest in the information; it must also ensure the disclosure does not harm another person's privacy or the investigation.
People authorised to make permitted disclosures under the Gambling and Racing Control Act 1999 can now share information to assist administrative units or any Minister; previously they could only advise the Gaming Minister.
Entities required to pay into the diversification and sustainability support fund pay $0 for tax periods ending within two years of the new rule starting.
The director-general cannot make payments from the diversification and sustainability support fund for applications made during that same two-year period.
