Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
Conservation officers can order a person to leave a reserve; this applies if the person acts offensively, creates a public nuisance, or commits a crime against the Nature Conservation Act 2014.
Biosecurity and energy efficiency rules can now incorporate external laws or Australian Standards.
The director-general of biosecurity and the energy efficiency administrator must make these incorporated documents available for free at government offices or online.
Incorporated documents are not enforceable unless the government makes them accessible to the public.
Emergency and control declarations under the Biosecurity Act 2023 are now exceptions to certain nature conservation rules.
