Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

First home owner grants increase to $20,000.
The higher amount applies to transactions starting between 1 July 2026 and 1 July 2027.
Transactions must be completed within 24 months.
The Commissioner can extend the completion deadline if there are good reasons.
The Commissioner can deny the higher grant if the transaction replaces an older deal for the same property.
The Commissioner must pay an extra $10,000 to people who already received a partial payment for an eligible transaction.
