Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

The Commissioner must check if an individual's business licence was suspended or cancelled for misconduct in the last 5 years before granting a new licence.
The Commissioner must apply the same 5-year misconduct check to members of a firm applying for a licence.
Authorised officers can now issue infringement notices for offences under the Real Estate and Business Agents Act and the Settlement Agents Act.
The 2016 codes of conduct for real estate and settlement agents are repealed.
The Commissioner can approve new qualifications for agents and sales representatives; these must be published online.
Real estate licensees must pay a late fee if they apply to renew their triennial certificate after the expiry date.
