Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
The ACT and NT must be represented by senators chosen by the people voting as one electorate.
The number of senators for the ACT and NT is set at half the number of senators for a State.
Senators for the ACT and NT follow the same election timing rules as State senators.
Senators for other Territories start their term on election day; it ends the day before the next general election.
Elections for other Territories must happen at the same time as each general election.
