Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

States and Territories must ban school staff from promoting partisan views to students; this applies to both teaching and school administration.
States and Territories must require school staff to provide a balanced presentation of opposing views on political, historical and scientific issues.
Schools must consult with parents or guardians to see if staff are providing balanced views; schools must consider the feedback from these talks.
Parents or guardians can apply to a court to enforce laws that prohibit partisan views or require balanced presentations.
The Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority must ensure the national curriculum provides a balanced presentation of opposing views.
The Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority must provide resources and guidance to teachers to promote balanced views.
States and Territories must meet these requirements to keep receiving financial assistance under the Australian Education Act 2013.
