Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
Responsible persons for large commercial, government, and public buildings must install at least one defibrillator; buildings larger than 1,200m² must install additional units for every extra 1,200m² of footprint.
Responsible persons for emergency services and public passenger vehicles must install a defibrillator.
Defibrillators must be tested and maintained at least once every 12 months.
Responsible persons must install signs showing defibrillator locations near entrances and on the outside of vehicles.
Responsible persons must notify the Minister within 30 days of installing a defibrillator; changes to this information must be reported within 14 days.
The Minister must maintain a public register of defibrillators accessible via a website and smartphone app.
Criminal offence for intentionally damaging, destroying, or removing a required defibrillator without a reasonable excuse.
Authorised officers can issue penalty notices for defibrillator-related offences.
