Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
Children under 10 cannot be held criminally responsible for an offence.
Children aged 10 to 13 are now subject to specific criminal responsibility provisions.
Driving a vehicle to damage another person's property is now a crime; the maximum penalty is 10 years in prison.
Ram-raiding is now classified as an aggravated property offence for sentencing.
Posting social media content that glorifies or boasts about specific crimes is now a crime; the maximum penalty is 2 years in prison.
The 'post and boast' offence does not apply to fictional, academic, artistic, or journalistic material.
The law ends the offence of unlawful disclosure under section 473 of the Criminal Code.
