Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

People accused of serious offences are presumed ineligible for bail if they have two or more convictions for similar offences in the last two years.
Courts and authorised members can force an accused person to live in government-approved bail accommodation.
The law removes the presumption against bail for youths who seriously breach bail.
The law removes the presumption in favour of bail for youths.
Specific rules regarding the offence of breaching bail are removed.
