Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
Affected persons, Land Councils, and native title claimants can review the Minister's decision to release or refuse blocks for petroleum exploration.
These groups can also review the Minister's approval or revision of petroleum environment management plans.
The Minister must publish the reasons for releasing petroleum exploration blocks on the Agency's website.
Third parties can no longer apply for review of concurrent or development applications under the Planning Act.
Consent authorities no longer have to provide a 'Notice of determination to consent'.
NTCAT's review powers under the Water Act are narrowed by removing specific items from the review schedule.
