Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
Police can enter a place without a warrant to arrest a person under the Parole Act; they must believe on reasonable grounds that the person is there.
Police can enter a place without a warrant to exercise powers over a domestic violence respondent; they must suspect on reasonable grounds that the person is there.
Police cannot enter a dwelling without the consent of an occupier when exercising these powers.
Police can stay at the entered place for as long as they need to confirm if the person is there; they can stay to exercise their powers if the person is present.
