Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
A person commits an offence if they recklessly disclose confidential information obtained while performing functions under the Act.
People who disclose such information face up to 2 years in prison or 200 penalty units.
A person is not criminally responsible if the individual the information relates to consented to the disclosure.
Tourism NT becomes Tourism and Events NT.
Tourism and Events NT can now identify, attract, and coordinate events and exhibitions for the Territory.
Tourism and Events NT must pay ticket money into a Reserve Fund; this money can only be used for event costs, refunds, or related functions.
The Minister must establish a Tourism and Events Advisory Board to provide strategic recommendations.
Tourism and Events NT can borrow money or enter partnerships; some of these powers require the Treasurer's approval.
