Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

People with a mutual recognition negative notice cannot get a clearance notice
Existing clearance notices are cancelled; pending applications are terminated; if a person receives a mutual recognition negative notice
People cannot re-apply for a clearance notice until their mutual recognition negative notice ends
The Police Commissioner or CEO can give the Authority information about a person's criminal history; they can also share details on domestic violence or child protection court orders
The Authority can demand identifying information from people or bodies to help decide on clearance notices
The Authority can tell employers or professional bodies if a person has applied for or holds a clearance notice
The Authority must give the Australian Crime Commission details of refused or revoked notices for a national database
