Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
Electrical workers do not need a certificate of compliance when replacing a fitting or appliance with a similar one.
The new fitting must be in the same location as the old one.
The replacement must not draw a higher electrical load.
The replacement must not have a materially different function; this includes needing a new conductor or circuit protector.
Cutting or stripping an existing wire to connect the new fitting does not count as a material difference in function.
