Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

The government can now authorise the construction and operation of nuclear installations
The Minister for Environment and Water can now declare and approve actions involving nuclear power plants; this includes enrichment plants and reprocessing facilities
The Minister can now approve nuclear installations based on an endorsed policy or program
The Minister can now enter into conservation agreements regarding the environmental impact of nuclear installations
The law no longer distinguishes between civilian nuclear plants and naval nuclear propulsion plants for these approvals
