If this bill passes, it means that:
People convicted of offences under subsections 471.19, 471.20, 474.22, and 474.22A of the Criminal Code must serve at least 5 years in prison.
The mandatory minimum sentence for offences listed in table items 11, 12, 13, 24, 24A, and 25 of Subsection 16AAB(2) rises to 6 years; this is up from 4 years.
