Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

People can request a written statement of reasons for a Board decision; the request must be made within 28 days.
The Chief of the Defence Force can choose to become a party to a review by giving written notice to the Board.
The Board must notify the Commission and the Chief of the Defence Force when a review application is made for service injuries or deaths.
People who meet specific eligibility criteria for an additional disablement amount can get treatment for their injury or disease.
Members can get treatment if they are eligible under a specific government instrument.
Some people lose their entitlement to compensation for deaths that occurred before the law started if they were already eligible under previous acts.
