Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

Fuel duty rates drop to 50% of the standard rate from 1 April 2026 to 30 June 2026.
CPI indexed fuel rates also drop to 50% of the standard rate during this same period.
The Treasurer can set a lower percentage than 50% for these rates.
The Transport Minister can set road user charges for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 financial years; this includes setting rates for dates before the decision is made.
Certain standard road user charge calculation rules are suspended for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 financial years.
