Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

The Inspector-General of Intelligence and Security can enter any place to conduct an inquiry.
Defence officials have no civil or criminal liability for conduct they reasonably believe is necessary for their job.
Information can be shared with Inspector-General officials without breaking secrecy rules.
The heads of the AFP, AUSTRAC, and the Department of Home Affairs must give documents and information to the Inspector-General.
The Inspector-General must respond to requests from the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security.
The Australian Crime Commission must notify the Inspector-General when it uses computer access warrants.
The Australian Crime Commission must notify the Inspector-General within 7 days of making a technical assistance request.
