Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

The person specified by the levy rules must pay the national joint replacement register levy; this replaces the previous requirement for the prosthesis sponsor to pay.
The law validates levy payments made before 1 July 2023 by people listed in the Prostheses List Rules; these payments are treated as if they were made by the sponsor.
The law validates levy payments made between 1 July 2023 and the start of this bill by people listed in the Medical Devices and Human Tissue Products Rules; these are also treated as if made by the sponsor.
The new payment rules apply to all levies imposed on or after the bill starts.
