Authorised nurse prescribers can write prescriptions for pharmaceutical benefits from 1 July 2026; the medicine must be for the nursing treatment of the patient.
The Minister determines the qualifications and experience needed to be an eligible nurse prescriber.
Eligible nurses can apply to the Secretary to become authorised nurse prescribers.
