Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

Regulations can now set charges to recover costs for administering the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act.
The Minister must be satisfied that a charge recovers no more than the Commonwealth's likely costs before it is set.
Regulations can set a fixed price for a charge; they can also set a calculation method.
Regulations can provide exemptions from these charges.
The Act binds the Crown of States and Territories; it does not bind the Commonwealth.
The Act bans taxes on State property.
