Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

People face up to 15 years in prison for possessing items used to prepare for or assist in terrorist acts.
People face up to 25 years in prison for recruiting others to join terrorist entities.
It is a crime to provide funds to a state sponsor of terrorism.
People previously convicted of terrorism offences cannot associate with members of foreign state entities.
The AFP Minister can designate foreign entities as state sponsors of terrorism.
Police can arrest and charge members of foreign state entities before getting official consent to start legal proceedings.
