Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

Police can stop and detain vehicles to search them for extradition purposes
Police can enter premises using New Zealand warrants or provisional arrest warrants; they must announce themselves before entering
Certificates for serious drug offences now count as primary evidence; the person who issued the certificate must still be called as a witness for cross-examination
Law enforcement officers or technical experts can now issue these drug offence certificates
People applying for certain search warrants must try to communicate further with the target; they must record these communications
The Attorney-General can vary or revoke written authorisations for prosecutions in writing
