Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

Regulated entities must pay an annual general levy to the Secretary.
Entities pay a penalty of 20% per year on any unpaid levy.
The Secretary can waive the levy or late penalty if there are exceptional circumstances.
Affected entities can ask the Secretary to review a decision about waivers or penalties.
People or entities can apply to the Administrative Review Tribunal to review specific Secretary decisions.
The Commonwealth can sue to recover unpaid levies and penalties as debts.
Regulated entities may have to provide returns to the Secretary about their levy liability.
The Governor-General can set fines up to 50 penalty units for breaking regulation rules.
