If this bill passes, it means that:
The Minerals Research Institute of Western Australia is renamed the Clean Energy and Minerals Research Institute of Western Australia.
The Institute's purpose now includes promoting research into clean energy; minerals; and emissions reduction.
The Minister must appoint 8 members to the Institute's board.
Board members must have expert knowledge in the minerals industry; clean energy; emissions reduction; or the research sector.
The CEO of the Institute cannot be a board member.
Regulations can set rules for transitional matters arising from these changes.
