The bill redefines the 'adjacent area' for Western Australia. This area now includes the space above and below the continental shelf as described in the Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage Act 2006 (Commonwealth).
The bill redefines the area for the Northern Territory to include the continental shelf as described in the Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage Act 2006 (Commonwealth).
The bill removes the definition of 'Joint Petroleum Development Area' from the Crimes at Sea Act 2000.
The bill replaces the existing map in Appendix 1 of Schedule 1 with a new indicative map.
