Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
Expelled members of incorporated associations can apply to challenge their removal; this must happen within 6 months of expulsion.
Incorporated associations must let members inspect the membership register within 30 days of a request.
Associations face a $2,750 fine for failing to provide the membership register.
Members can ask the association secretary to restrict other people's access to their personal information in the register.
Co-operatives can hold general meetings via telephone or other instant communication tools.
People signing co-operative documents can use electronic signatures; the method must identify the person and show their intent.
Proxies for co-operative meetings must vote as instructed if they are the chairperson; other proxies only need to follow instructions if they choose to vote.
