Effects of Bill:

This bill being passed means that... There will be more cooperation and information sharing between the Commissioner, the Department and contractors engaged by the Department; The Minister for Transport can now issue guidelines in relation to information sharing between the Commissioner, the Department and contractors engaged by the Department; The Commissioner now has to give the Minister for Transport a copy of reports 28 days before they are tabled, so the Minister has time to find a media diversion if needed; The Commissioner now has statutory immunity from civil liability for acts or omissions done in good faith; Lost property handed to police only needs to be kept for one month if unclaimed; PSOs can now legally arrest people for whom there is a warrant, backdated to the introduction of PSOs
